Pubs are definitely one of the best-known symbols of Britain.
But these charming establishments with their quirky names and colourful signs are so much more than just places to drink and eat: they are one of the great institutions of British society and a fundamental part of British social culture.
For centuries, pubs in the UK have been at the heart of local communities and are still the beating heart of English villages.
But, as with any aspect of popular culture, pubs too have changed over time. The most obvious change is in their role in British society, which has evolved a lot over the last 30 or 40 years.
In this video, which is a follow-up to my blog 'His Majesty, the Pub. Histoy & Fun Facts about British Pubs', I'm going to talk again about pubs and their history. Most importantly, I tell you about eight 'pub classics' so the next time you go to a pub you will know in advance what to order - unless you're British, of course, and know everything about pub grub. In this case, you will be able to tell me what you think about my take of traditional pub food!
The video is in Italian, but has proper English subtitles that you can activate on YouTube by selecting the CC option on Settings so you can still enjoy the content.
