Why do the English love the countryside so much?

The countryside is the beating heart of England.

Even today, this idyllic world of rolling green hills, breathtaking views, and thousands of picture‑perfect villages remains the cherished dream of millions of Brits and continues to be a fundamental part of British society and culture.

This deep and lasting connection is a uniquely British trait, with few parallels elsewhere in the Western world. After all, one cannot truly claim to know England without understanding the almost ancestral bond that ties large parts of the population to the rural world and its unmistakable lifestyle.

But have you ever wondered where this bond comes from and, above all, why it remains so strong in the 21st century?

After living more than five years in a village in the English countryside, in my new video I try to share my own answer to these questions. Don’t miss it if you want to discover why the English love the countryside so deeply and consider it the ideal place to live and raise their children. The video is in Italian, but has properly edited English subtitles that can be activated on YouTube by selecting CC in Settings.
