England and gardens are a match made in Heaven. Nowhere else is the love of gardens so widespread among the population and such an integral part of the national culture and identity.
From the formal gardens of the imposing stately homes to the large parks of country mansions, English gardens are known and celebrated all over the world. However, the style which England is most famous for is the so-called 'Cottage Garden', that is typical of English country cottages.
When you think of a cottage, you immediately picture a small, cosy house surrounded by a blooming garden. And this is not just an idealised image – it's reality! With rare exceptions, all English cottages have their small or large garden – and my cottage is no exception.
In this video, I show you my garden, which, in small, is an example of a traditional cottage garden and tell you what are the key features of this fascinating garden style.
The video is in Italian, but has proper English subtitles that can be activated on YouTube by selecting CC in Settings and choosing English (United Kingdom). And don't forget to choose the highest quality video for the best watching experience. Enjoy!
